Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has taken a major step toward revitalizing technical education in the state, donating 30 Toyota Hiace buses to the Science, Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB) to enhance school operations.

The governor, represented by his Special Adviser on Education Innovation, Dr. Chinyere Onyisi, presented the buses at the STVSMB headquarters in Enugu, emphasizing that the vehicles would ease transportation challenges and improve school supervision.

A New Era for Technical Education
The buses will be distributed across 30 technical and vocational schools, with nine more expected soon to cover all institutions under the board. Dr. Onyisi stated that the initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision to modernize education in Enugu, shifting from rote learning to skill-based, experiential education.

“With these vehicles, distance is no longer a barrier. Principals can now move freely to monitor teaching and learning effectively,” she said. “What is happening in Enugu is a transformation—education today is about creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.”

Board Chairman Commends Governor’s Commitment
STVSMB Chairman Dr. Amaka Ngene praised Governor Mbah’s dedication to education, describing him as “a man of passion for education.” She confirmed that principals and drivers had undergone orientation on proper vehicle usage and would be held accountable for maintenance.

“These buses will significantly ease our schools’ transportation needs,” Ngene said, adding that the governor’s support would enhance operational efficiency.

School Leaders Express Gratitude
Rev. Sr. Kizito, Principal of Special Science School, Oghe, and Mr. Sylvester Alumona, Chief Supervisory Principal for Nsukka Education Zone, both thanked the governor for the intervention, pledging to use the buses responsibly.

“This will greatly benefit our teachers and students,” Rev. Sr. Kizito said, while Alumona assured that routine checks would ensure the vehicles remain in good condition.

The donation marks another milestone in Governor Mbah’s efforts to reposition Enugu as a hub for technical and vocational excellence, preparing students for future leadership and innovation.
