Death toll from the recent flooding at Mokwa community in Niger State, has risen to 151 while 3,018 persons have been said to be currently displaced.
The confirmation was made by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) Ibrahim Hussaini, the agency’s Spokesperson over the weekend.

The affected communities numbering three, include: Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa in Mokwa Local Government Area, which were submerged on Wednesday night after hours of heavy downpour.
The Spokesperson said 11 people sustained injuries while 3,018 have been displaced, adding that 265 houses and 503 households were affected.
Slyke Bulletin also recalls that this incident is coming five months after Umar Bago, Niger Governor, announced that the state had secured a $10 million World Bank facility to arrest Gully Erosion in some parts of Mokwa, as he gave the assurance that competent contractors had been identified for the project.

Also, President Bola Tinubu, on Friday, directed the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Security agencies to intensify rescue and relief operations in the affected communities.
