Violence Trails PSG Champions League Victory

Celebrations turned violent in France after Paris Saint-Germain’s 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League final. Two people died, and hundreds were arrested, according to the Ministry of the Interior.

In Paris, 491 people were arrested after crowds converged on the Champs-Elysees avenue, clashing with officers. Nationwide, 559 arrests were made. The authorities reported two deaths: a scooter rider was hit by a car in Paris, and a 17-year-old was fatally stabbed in the southwestern town of Dax during celebrations.

The PSG team was set to hold a victory parade on the Champs-Elysees, with tens of thousands of supporters expected. Overnight, police used water cannons to disperse crowds, and several people were injured in a car incident in Grenoble.

French President Emmanuel Macron congratulated the team, saying it was a “day of glory for PSG.” The team’s victory marked their first Champions League title, with 11.5 million people watching the match across France.
