A 30-year-old man, Boniface Abraham Edigbo, has been sentenced to death by hanging for murdering an 18-year-old student in Ebonyi State. According to reports, Edigbo had been in a homosexual relationship with the victim since 2021 and they took vows of secrecy. The situation escalated when the victim complained of pains in his anus which led to their relationship becoming public.
The defendant then lured the boy to Edigbo Guest House, where they spent the night of Monday, May 22, 2023 together after which he poisoned him by mixing insecticide in his drink.
The trial judge, Justice Ruth Okeh, found Edigbo guilty of the offense of murder and sentenced him to death. The prosecuting counsel hailed the judgment as a deterrent to others.
