President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions across the world, including 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career envoys.
The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025. Their deployment to various countries and international organisations was announced in a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday.
Among the non-career ambassadors, former Senator Grace Bent has been posted to Togo, while former presidential aide Ita Enang will serve in South Africa. Former Abia State governor Victor Ikpeazu has been assigned to Spain, while Reno Omokri is to represent Nigeria in Mexico.
Other notable postings include former Interior Minister Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to China, former Lagos deputy governor Olufemi Pedro to Australia, and former Director-General of the Department of State Services, Lateef Kayode Are, to the United States.
Former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, has been posted to Canada, while former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode will represent Nigeria in Germany. Senator Jimoh Ibrahim has been appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
Several former lawmakers and political figures were also named as ambassadors, including Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece, Nora Ladi Daduut to South Korea, and Jerry Samuel Manwe to Trinidad and Tobago.
In the career diplomatic category, Ambassador Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka will serve in Côte d’Ivoire, while Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele has been posted to Algeria. Other appointments include Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, Ambassador Segun Ige to Lebanon, and Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to India.
Additional postings include Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya, Ambassador Wahab Adekola Akande to Switzerland, Ambassador Adeola Mopelola Ibrahim to Benin Republic, and Ambassador Emmanuel Ayeni to Belgium.
According to the Presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for Nigeria’s High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu. France has also granted agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
The ministry has forwarded the nominations of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries, requesting formal diplomatic approval in line with international practice.
President Tinubu has also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin an induction programme for all ambassadors-designate and high commissioners ahead of their deployment to their missions.
