A potentially deadly mob attack was averted in Niger State when police officers intervened to rescue three Chinese expatriates and one of their police escorts from an enraged crowd. The incident occurred along the Mokwa/Makera Highway after a hit-and-run accident involving the expatriates’ vehicle.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle, which was escorting the Chinese nationals to a mining site in Sakaba LGA, Kebbi State, knocked down a 15-year-old girl, Fatima Abubakar, at Tashan Hajiya Village. The driver failed to stop, prompting local motorcycle riders to give chase.
The pursuit ended in Manigi Village, Mashegu LGA, where the vehicle’s tyre burst, and an angry mob gathered, damaging the SUV. However, a timely intervention by another police team from Mashegu saved the expatriates and their police escort from harm.
The injured girl has been rushed to the hospital, but her current health status is unknown. The police have taken charge of the situation, and further details are awaited
