…Arrests Seven Suspects For Human Trafficking, Cyber Fraud

The INTERPOL unit of the Nigeria Police Force has rescued forty-six trafficked victims and arrested seven suspects involved in cross-border human trafficking and cyber fraud.

A statement by the force indicates that the operation follows a message received from INTERPOL NCB Accra, which led to the rescue of thirty-one victims lured from Ghana to Nigeria under the false promise of employment opportunities in Europe. Once in Nigeria, the victims were coerced into fraudulent online marketing schemes linked to the QNET network.

Preliminary investigations reveal that one of the victims, Samuel Dankwah Opoku, was deceived by George Tenkron and directed to Nigeria for a supposed job in Spain. Upon arrival, he was trapped in QNET’s network, having paid GHC 30,000 to Attah Amankwaah—a Ghanaian based in Nigeria and a key member of the syndicate. Acting on credible intelligence, police operatives arrest six suspects, including Amankwaah, and recover incriminating materials. The victims have been handed over to the Ghana High Commission in Abuja for safe repatriation.

In a related development, INTERPOL NCB also acts on a distress alert regarding four Ghanaian nationals trafficked into Nigeria by 39-year-old Achiaa Grace Afrifa.

Investigations reveal she defrauds her victims of GHC 126,000 under the guise of foreign job placements. She was arrested in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and fifteen additional victims have also been rescued from her custody. All seven suspects from both operations are currently in police custody and will be charged in court after investigations.
