Abuja, Nigeria – The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially declared Nigerian singer and social media influencer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, a wanted man over allegations of rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The announcement was made in a public notice posted on NAPTIP’s official Instagram page on Friday, urging anyone with information on Okoye’s location to come forward.
According to the agency’s statement:
“Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking. Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately.”
The notice provided contact details, including a dedicated hotline (07030000203) and an email (info@naptip.gov.ng).
Failed Summons & Evasion
NAPTIP had earlier summoned the controversial social media influencer in May 2025 after he allegedly boasted online about an affair with a 15-year-old girl, sparking public outrage.
In a May 28, 2025, letter signed by Ngamaraju Mangzha, Head of NAPTIP’s Cybercrime Response Team, the agency ordered the singer to appear at its Abuja headquarters on May 30.
However, Okoye reportedly requested a postponement, citing prior commitments and proposing a new date of June 26.
NAPTIP swiftly rejected the delay. In a follow-up letter signed by Hakeem Lawal, Director of ICT and Cybercrime Response Coordinator, the agency demanded his appearance by June 2, warning that failure to comply would lead to further action.
Next Steps
With Okoye failing to show up, NAPTIP has now escalated the matter, issuing a nationwide manhunt.
Legal experts suggest that if arrested, the influencer could face serious charges under Nigeria’s Cybercrimes Act and anti-sexual violence laws.
