Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has collaborated with the CLEEN Foundation to initiate the second phase of training for Public Relations Officers (PPROs) on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention. The training, which commenced on July 8, 2025, in Lagos State, aims to strengthen strategic communication capacities within the Force.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, declared the training open, emphasizing the critical role of strategic communication in bridging the gap between the police and the public. He noted that the training would equip PPROs with essential tools to manage public perception, counter misinformation, and engage citizens in a more empathetic and impactful manner.
The training brings together PPROs from across the southern region of the country and focuses on critical areas such as audience analysis, persuasive messaging, behaviour change strategies, use of digital media, and effective engagement with diverse communities.
The IGP reaffirmed the NPF’s dedication to promoting proactive, responsive, and citizen-centered policing through continuous capacity development, inter-agency collaboration, and effective communication with the public. This initiative is part of the NPF’s efforts to foster a culture of accountability and professionalism within the Force.
